While attending the amazing Luxe Retreat in Las Vegas this winter, one of my favorite business mentors off-handedly mentioned that she and her family would be vacationing in my neck of the woods over the summer and wondered if I would like to photograph her family.  Having met Courtney DeLaura, founder of Get Schooled Photo, at the Seniorologie Shootout in Charleston last summer and attending several of her other classes, I knew immediately that it would be a fabulous time.  Not only could I tell that this woman LOVES her family (I felt like I already knew them all even before we met), but she is so warm and genuine and open.

Photographing other photographers always comes with a layer of pressure – we often know each others’ weaknesses – but this engaging family was one of my easiest of the entire summer.  Not only are they some of the smiliest folks I ever met, they made me feel so at ease and like I was a part of their family. Her handsome crew was definitely used to being in front of the camera, and they hardly needed any guidance from me at all!
